From Twenty-Three To Twenty-Four Poem by Denis Martindale

From Twenty-Three To Twenty-Four

My word! The New Year came at last.
Thank God! The Old Year vanished fast.
I paid for bills that rose and rose.
What happens now? God only knows.
Why would I want to get dismayed?
And so I pray that bills get paid.
So here I am in twenty-four,
In search of discounts more and more.
Some charities have proved first rate.
Lord, bless me so I can donate.
To lend a hand is my intent
Beyond some fleeting sentiment.
Beyond resistance not to give.
Through my persistence, others live.
