Funereal Thoughts Poem by Mary Champion

Funereal Thoughts

WINTER MEMORIES ON A SUMMER'S DAY

That was the last time, - the last time I'll kiss you
and though I'll still miss you
we won't meet again.
That was the last time -the heart stopping last time,
you smiled through the pain.

That was the last time - the last time I'll touch you
and no matter how much you
will still mean to me.
That was the last time - the bitter sweet last time.
And yet I'm not free.

That was the last time - the last time I'll see you.
Can't believe it can be true -
this final good-bye.
That was the last time - yes it must be the last time.
But I can't break the tie.
