Gainsay Poem by Aaliya Shajahan

Gainsay

Rating: 4.0

I am a female species,
That means I'm subjected to criticism in every field.
And I am entitled to have certain responsibilities.
And many at times, people tend to forget my capability.

They tell me I'm a pearl, and that i am unique.
yet, they try to change me,
and tells' me that I'm a freak.

They tell me I should fit in,
and not be an outcast,
so they try to mold me
so I can regret the past.

They think i am an object which has no emotion
so they tend to treat me like a bottle of lotion.
It is easy for them to find the flaws,
but isn't that the one that makes us feel awe?

We all at once, need to pause
so we can go back in time to see the cause.
As for me, beauty comes from within,
beware, it is not the color of your skin.

Take your time to see the world,
as people will always put you down,
but make sure that it doesn't affect us, in any ground.

I bid farewell by saying,
I am a female species and
I will not be treated like your feces.
