Gambler Poem by Marijana Nezic

Gambler

Rating: 5.0

GAMBLER

Hanging on my side of bed,
Figuring numbers in my head.

Waiting for the big catch,
Thinking how to spend it all.

Dreams take me to all great places,
People look at me with admiration.

But I lose again,
Wrong numbers played again.

Sadness comes in my head,
but decide to play again.

Another numbers circling in my head,
Waiting for another play.

Dreaming of great places,
Buying all I can.

But I lose, and play again.

Maybe this time numbers brings me luck,
all those admiration, money and life on vacation.

And decide to play again, and again.

The life of a gambler is one of addictive agony; a gambler's hope - a good breakfast but also a bad supper. A lovely depiction of the deplorable lives of gamblers well articulated and insightfully penned with conviction. Thanks for sharing Marijana. Please read my poem MANDELA - THE IMMORTAL ICON.
