Gentle Man Poem by Barry Van Allen

Gentle Man

Rating: 4.3

I strive to be a gentleman,
life doesn't make it easy,
if she wasn't so attractive,
if she wasn't quite so smart,
- - - it never would have started.

She was searching for her father,
I wasn't searching for a daughter,
she was looking for a teacher,
... so, I taught her.

The lessons all were mine,
and as her years made 25,
our year or so together was defined,
by everything that keeps old men alive.

Such as the hope that it could happen,
and in the end the odds were beat,
on the other hand, whatever man she chooses,
should be ready for a ' big - time ' treat!

This is a wonderful poem, , , , can't help but chuckle remembering an answer once given to me about men and availability...So when I asked the ex, Father of our children, his answer was.'waiting for their next wife to be born.' So did you get a 'big - time ' treat! ? Well this read was indeed a treat, put a big old smile on my face. Someone made a tremendous error with the number the hit here for it is ten plus ten plus etc... ~~~mm. :) ~~[ps, my dad was fifteen years to the day older than his wife! ]
