As I lay on my bed in a reflective mood
My mind wandered into my distant past
The bonanza showered on me by people good
Transforms my narrow vision into a horizon vast
My classmates, many of my age, have left this world
Gentle souls! Their full story remains untold
Fond memories of their frolics, words of wisdom and fun
Rejuvenate me like the morning sun
Their precious precepts and examples we need to emulate
For ourselves and our progeny to stimulate
Ennobling thoughts in our brain to permeate
And goodwill among mankind to generate
Many amongst us have attained renown
In their special field of endeavor and widely known
Their talents, inventions and publications
Have won global acclaim and approbation
Pitchumoni, in gastro sciences, is a pearl of wisdom
Jairaj, the winsome victor king of Hridayalaya kingdom
And many amongst us distinguished in disciplines of their choice
Amidst this din, a lone evangelist, a story teller and a cranky poet’s voice
A work accomplished with devotion and dedication
Finds rewards in fulfillment and benediction
A physician with a faithful heart and selfless soul
attains a state of glory and peace in life on the whole

A compelling compilation of creditable contemporaries that inspires. If they could do it so can we. Well done my friend!
