Gentleman James Poem by Angela Wybrow

Gentleman James

Rating: 5.0

You were only aged forty-two,
When, with angel wings, up to Heaven you flew;
You were gentle in spirit, with a heart of pure gold,
And, in all of our lives, you've left a huge hole.

You were helpful, caring, honest and kind;
A remarkable man with a brilliant mind.
You were warm and welcoming, and ever so wise;
You were the perfect gentleman in everyone's eyes.

For other people, you always had time:
You helped them sparkle; you helped them shine.
You were positive and encouraging, and you pushed people on,
And we'll all really miss you now that you're gone.

You were happiest when surrounded by bush or by briar,
And, in your belly, there was a real sense of fire;
You lived your life with passion and zest -
There's no doubt about it: you were one of the best.

Your books, your art, the photos you captured;
Your chickens, your cats, your love of old tractors -
All of these things were so dear to your heart,
And, in your life, they played a huge part.

You were a decent guy on who folk could depend;
You were solid, supportive - you were an amazing friend.
We'll always remember your bright, smiling face,
And the love which you showered all over the place.

Your spirit has risen to the Heavens above,
But, down here on Earth, we can still feel your love;
You really were an all round good guy,
So, up there in Heaven, fly high, James, fly high.
