Getting Even..... Poem by RIC BASTASA

one day
i sat on an architectural
marvel of
a simple chair and behind
me is a woman in his middle
age bringing a placard
with Chinese characters
and when my wife flashed
the camera she
waved it
as though cheering for me
and my wife who understands
chinese
laughed so hard and when i asked
her
she did not say any word
until she slipped
and landed on the cobbled stones
with a big bang
and i laughed at her so hard
and she asked me
why and of course
to get even with her
i said nothing
too.
