Getting Up Poem by Clarisse Sobiono

Getting Up

I wish I am an elephant
Expecting tourists on my rigid back
They could adorn my head
Just don't make me get up

I wish I am that guitar
I can see him hanging from across the room
Not being plucked, not being strummed
Just let me lie down some more

I wish I am the cheese
I think I have some in the fridge
Eating some for breakfast would be nice
Just a minute more please

I wish I have nothing to do
Like rockstars and business owners
I could do better if I get up
Just let me close my eyes once more

I wish I could stay in that dream
The change of scenery I could use for certain
Shut up, alarm clock
I'll let you snooze in the interim
