Ghost Poem by Rabi Anata

Ghost

At night, you are in my thoughts.
There are tears on my pillow,
As I cry to replace sleep.
When I eat, I weep,
Because you are not by my side,
Yes it’s been so for weeks.

I’m under the impression
That you ARE here,
And it only deepens my sadness.
Why come back lingering
In realms beyond me?
How frustrating it is, to say the least.
To know you’re here,
In shadows, in darkness
Means you are hiding away,
But why are you wordless
When there’s so much for us to say?

Is there some restriction,
Some guidelines or rules
Even after you’ve left the world?
If so, it’d be nice to know
So then there’s reason why you cannot…
Why we cannot meet once more.

Am I crazy, perhaps losing my mind?
There is nothing here but walls
When I start speaking to you...
But to me...I'm speaking to the ghost
Of someone I once knew.
