Ghost From My Past Poem by Casey Gochnour

Ghost From My Past

Ghost from the past,
How long can you last?
Invading every mind and eye,
Tied to this world with your alibi.

Ghost from the past,
Your time has long passed.
Haunting, daunting, thou art,
Since the beginning; the very start.

It all began with a seed of doubt,
Planted so firmly, it began to sprout.
Was it the best choice? Could I have changed?
Live it out, this is how life was arranged.

Massive plan carefully thought out,
Doubting, shouting, forgetting what it’s all about.
Every step detailed to the point,
Connecting each other like a bodily joint.

Arise, overcome, live life free,
Forget the wrongs of past, try to agree.
These memories do you more wrong than good,
They bother you much more than they should.

I know these thoughts are all you can carry,
This ghost from the past has made you wary.
Don’t let it sit, don’t let it meddle,
Keep yourself moving, keep the foot on the pedal.

Ghost from the past,
I knew you wouldn’t last.
My ghost from the past…
You’re gone, at last.

To think you were thrown by life to be outcast,
To think in my mind you would outlast,
Even the greatest of disasters, you survived the blast.
But now your time has passed.

Now, goodbye…
Ghost from my past.
