Rejected World Poem by Casey Gochnour

Rejected World

Shut down. A world with daring eyes,
Judgmental and hating, feeding us lies.
All my life all I wanted was you,
Always just hoping you’d want me too.

And now I finally have you in my sights,
Forever looking up to reaching new heights.
We’ll not give it up and let the world see,
How you and me were meant to be.

They’ll shun us, push us down and tell us we’re wrong,
But we’ll forever stand up, for our love is strong.
We don’t know where we’ll go, don’t know where we belong,
All I need is for you to hang on.

Please take my hand, let me take yours,
Watch yourself, they’re slamming our doors.
Slamming them shut, but more swing wide,
Eagerly begging for us to go inside.

We can take the leap, we’ll take it twice,
We’ll have to watch our steps and be precise.
But I know we can make it if we just hold fast,
There may be hard times now but we can make the good last.

And we’ll stick together, me and you,
And there’s nothing that the world can do.
Because there’s no one in the world like you,
And there’s nothing I wouldn’t do…

The world is waiting, it’s hating, trying to tear me down,
Trying to make us debating, it’s creating, but it won’t win my frown.
But even if the whole world wouldn’t want me to,
Could I fall right next to you?
