Give Me A Reason Poem by Ken Duffy

Give Me A Reason

Have you ever asked yourself
What reason do I have to rise today
If you have, here is a good reason
Someone special is in need of your help

Always arrogant, dismissive of her wants
Never once a polite introduction
Taking her gifts, that are well meant
Never having time to become familiar

Your eyes, she pleased on many occasion
Preoccupations having made you blind
Always has she been in your vision
Your blindness, bringing much pain

Imagine the heartache of a mother
Whose children have abandoned her
Ignoring, and neglecting her basic needs
So many of us, do this every day

Selflessness has always been her mantra
Is it to much to ask, we try to do the same
A little helping hand, in her hour of need
Clock is ticking, its time she does not have

If an introduction is still necessary
Allow me the honor of that introduction
She is your benefactor, your nurturer
Please be upstanding, for Mother Nature
