'Go! ' Poem by JAMES T. ADAIR

I realize I've let so much of life slip by
oh how it hurts inside to know
I stayed somewhere too long
out of obligation and caring
though my heart was breaking
And was trying to tell me: It's Over
'Go! '
But I didn't
Lord I didn't know
That this life is so short
It's all we have
And just as we begin to understand
our time might be at hand to go
I swear
If there are second chances
If you give me one
'till I'm breathless
I promise to make my best run
You placed in me a heart
I know because I've felt it break
I've tried to give back more than I take
But I've made many a mistake
No need of it to remind
When it's time...pray you're kind
It's all played upon my mind
but yet, I'm not quite ready to go
There is still something about true love
I've yet to know
I've yet to know
