Go Back! Poem by Randy McClave

Go Back!

As the history books don't fully tell and show
From ignored history from long ago,
About the people who fought and died to defend this land
When the immigrants came hand in hand.
Build a wall the people screamed
So, they can keep the world they made and dreamed,
They didn't like the immigrants that were arriving
Because, they were different and conniving.
They are sending us the worst that they sent here
Spoke a parent with a saddening tear,
They are sending us their murderers, rapists and thieves
Now our soul's greaves.
They will try to change our ways and our every belief
They will give us nothing, but sorrow and pain and grief,
And they will bring diseases and harm with them
Because, of them they'll make our life grim.
They will take and steal what is ours and not theirs
Then they will give it to their heirs,
What we have and know it will be no more
With them they'll be constant accusations and hate and war.
This was spoken by the Indigenous population
Who wanted to save their great nation,
"Go back! " they screamed as, they demanded
When on their soil, the white settlers in America landed.
