Go Beyond the Body, Stella
Prabir Kumar Gayen
Go beyond the body, Stella,
the light of the eternal nature.
Life is so precious, so eternal;
here in this world, life is a dream.
Here on this planet, people look above,
standing in space, gazing into space.
They dream of heaven,
yet remain ignorant and violent.
For five thousand years,
humanity has fought
over fifteen thousand wars.
People move like shadows without mercy.
Go beyond the body, Stella,
and see the Divine everywhere.
This world is too wounded to be healed by violence.
People are hungry for life,
yet kill, hoping for heaven.
Through darkness, they seek
to abolish darkness.
This is the age of darkness,
the age of killing the innocent;
and its agents stand ready
to leap into a sea of blood.
The ancient mother of brutal power
rises again to devour humanity.
Human beings walk in somnambulism,
as if standing in heaven,
yet preparing to kill to reach heaven.
Humanity is not yet mature.
People are divided by community,
pierced by the sharp arrow of ignorance.
Even a dog understands
the simple truth of living,
a dog is more religious than a human being.
Those who carry the highest knowledge
often live as cowards.
Knowledge has grown dull beside the sword,
and the sword still smokes
with the memory of blood.
Religion is no longer the path to self-knowledge;
it has become a path to destruction,
a sanctified ground for cruelty.
Religion stands,
a house of death.
The Upanishads fall silent in deaf ears;
their wisdom dissolves into empty words.
They speak of self-effacement,
the wave returning to the ocean,
yet the ocean is forgotten.
The Gita waits, but Arjun is absent.
Only the heirs of Duryodhan
seem to reign.
Higher knowledge lies
in a deep and troubled sleep.
The invisible world stands still;
its presence remains unseen.
It does nothing
to save humanity
from its own brutal philosophies.
Savage minds gather in crowds,
ready to destroy the innocent.
Even the saintly drift in delirium,
lost between sainthood
and sin.
Let us go beyond false religion.
Let us be immersed in higher knowledge,
and prepare to raise another Kurukshetra
to restore Dharma.
For within each of us lives Krishna,
Arjun,
and Duryodhan.
Now the struggle grows more violent,
more immense,
for evil has clothed itself in religion.
It has taken a sacred form,
and thus become more dangerous:
a creed that kills
to claim heaven and carnal eternity.
The philosophy of darkness,
the creed of murder for desire,
must be overcome
by the light of love and knowledge.
For this struggle is eternal,
it does not end.
The world stands divided in two:
one speaks of love, knowledge, and service,
one calls for the making of heaven on earth;
the other waits for its chance
to kill the innocent
for a promised paradise of pleasure.
A heaven of desire,
is it truly heaven?
Or is it another name for hell?
People do not fight for heaven,
but for a deeper hell,
for they are bound
to ignorance and craving.
Let us become one in love.
Let us awaken through love.
Beyond the body and the mind,
only spiritual knowledge is true.
Only love is true.
Only love without motive is true.
Let us remain faithful to one another.
Let us create
a world of the soul.
Let us go beyond doubt.
