God Loves Me Through Strangers Poem by Benjamin Davis

God Loves Me Through Strangers

Rating: 5.0

When the seas of life have tossed me to and fro
or my heart has been filled with regret
I've been rescued by people whom I did not know
or by folks I'd just recently met.
In the same way strangers have needed me
and I felt it my duty to answer their call
thus we became good friends immediately
and shared the greatest kind of love of them all.
I've always been one to show much gratitude
for what others have done for me
this would explain my optimistic attitude
and why I love so wholeheartedly.
Sure, I have relatives like normal folks do
we share a bond which is quite strong
but when I was lost not knowing what to do
God would send one of these strangers along.
I used to think family was all that I had
therefore, I tried to keep my family nearby
but many times in the past when my storms would get bad
twas perfect strangers who answered my cry.
These people came along and took me in
we sat together waiting for my storms to cease
we then formed a bond stronger than any of my kin
and shared a friendship filled with true love and peace.
I know that God's blessing me in times like these
when I had no one at all to turn to
I thought that I'd just drown in my stormy seas
but He'd send a stranger to my rescue.
I thank God up above for His mercy and love
and for sending these strangers my way
He lets me know that I'm His and always thought of
and that I will be helpful to a stranger one day.
As I sit alone in silence and contemplate
the many times I've been saved from life's dangers
I know that God's love saved me from a terrible fate
and that He gave me most of His love through strangers

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I love and cherish every member of my family with all of my heart, however there are people that God put into my life unexpectedly that have become closer to me than family members. Being one who takes nothing for granted, I was inspired to write this poems for the times that perfect strangers stuck their necks out for me when they could have just as easily went on their merry way.
