I Am Not Ready To Go Poem by Benjamin Davis

I Am Not Ready To Go

Hey, bartender, pour me another drink alright?
in fact, you'd better make that two
because instead of going home and argue all night
I'd rather sit here and chat with you.

I really do enjoy being here
you have a nice establishment
your place is so warm and filled with cheer
that I'm almost ready to start paying you rent.

I'm not ready to go home as you can see
because my home life is not all that good
I'd like to thank you very much for being so kind
I would stay here all night if I could.

My kids are all disrespectful and lazy
my wife will only argue or ignore me
I had to find relief or go insane
thus being in here really does a lot for me.

So bartender please pour me another shot
better yet, make that a double
give me what you consider the best you've got
so that I can relax and drown my troubles.

I see you constantly peeping at your clock
yeah, its getting kinda late I know
just give me one more of your scotch on the rocks
because I'm really not ready to go.
