God Reaches Down Poem by Marilyn Lott

God Reaches Down

I felt the change was coming
God's creature's felt it too
The sky was dark and dreary
The birds were way too few.

A silence hung in the murky air
As the light was plucked away
Sooty looking angry clouds
Looked more like night than day.

The flowers, if they could speak
Would tell how concerned they were
An old dog looked up from her nap
As it obviously worried her.

It was like God was sending a message
For He must do that once in awhile
Send a message straight down to us
And not always with a smile.

But, you know, He also has a way
With His lightening and His thunder
Giving us direction, I think
For it sure does give us wonder.

That's just the way it is as well
When we're hurt and we can't see
Sometimes I stop and realize
God is reaching down to me.
