God Was Waiting For Me Poem by Marilyn Lott

God Was Waiting For Me

As I entered this church I found
That God was waiting for me
My wandering led me here somehow
And I felt such utter tranquility

The church was absolutely beautiful
The oldest one built around here
If felt so peaceful and safe
Gone was my confusion and fear

Something drew me inside, you see
Perhaps, in part, the brilliant red door
I’d never seen such architecture
From the ceiling down to the floor

I slowly found a place to sit
And I looked around in awe
So many things were different
But outstanding beauty was the draw

For this church is very famous
It was built many years ago
And once inside its folds, my friend
You will also love it, I know

That day I found peace within me
Yes, it was plain for me to see
That even though I am a simple soul
God was here just waiting for me!
