I was God's
shadow.
Everywhere he was
(I was) .
And when he saw
that it was
'good'
I saw it
too.
And how
good it was.
As he walked
through the dreams
of humans
I fell across
their little lives
like loss.
I was always
cast
as the bad guy
the mystery
of how
the good of God
could be bad.
Now I have detatched
myself from his
holy feet
snipping myself off
at the soles
& hid
myself away
in this desert
of loneliness
far from any living soul
a shadow
(hiding in the shadows)
blameless now
of all the good
that God doesn't do.
And that is why
God had to invent
the Devil.
A fall guy.
Someone else to blame
for all the pain
when God just gets it
...wrong
Which is why
I have all
the sympathy for
the Devil
(who...God knows)
doesn't even exist
except as one of God's
eternal excuses.
An imaginary being
to take the rap
when God
messes up.
I lie like
any other shadow
a shadow
amongst shadows
hiding in the shadows
just trying
to exist
(not to exist)
in a world
blinded by the light
trying not to
exist
as myself.
