I would be taught many things, what love brings,
but difficult to fly without a pair of wings,
I was instructed in compassion and forgiveness,
to cherish, value, adore and gently caress.
They said that I would go to the stars and other places,
no one knew that an angel's heart races:
my friends Gabriel and Michael were so clever,
I completed my 'heavenwork' with their endeavour.
Anne and Catherine said: 'Be careful what you fly in,
not too loose clothing, in case you get in a flap,
when you're settled, you can give your own instruction,
then deliver your pearls of wisdom ad infinitum.
I graduated with flying colours - blue, white and gold,
so that I couldn't be seen in the sunset, I was told.
