Golden Leaves On The Tail Of A Snake Poem by Wes Thompson

Golden Leaves On The Tail Of A Snake

I have been told
that I had a name
and I let it leave me
now I am free
so they try to stop me
they think I'm broken
but I did not come here to fade out and die

I have been told
that I had a face
carved out of a tree
on the edge of the sea
so they try and show me
they think I'm loveless
but I am the one who came here to find

I have been told
that I had a mind
it told me to be
but I could not agree
so they try to help me
they cut my wings off
but I never said that I wanted to fly
