Gone Poem by Peter Bishop

Gone

I wake up to find you missing
You disappeared without leaving a clue
You’re gone without a love or goodbye
You left my heart scarred
And scattered all over the place

You left like the wind
Moving as far and quickly as you came
Leaving behind a disaster in your place
You’re leaving me behind
I wonder what I did to deserve this pain from you

O father did you have to go
Why did you choice war over your son
So is it love for your country that made you
Want to leave your child at home wanting you dearly
Was it a different family that you discovered

Forgetting that you were leaving behind a devastating hurt soul
Who wanted to so much be a child
Where you lifted him up and flew him like an airplane
Did you forget his smile or the laughter utter from his lips
Or did you forget the glory in his eyes when you saved him from the beating

Could it be that you saw your face in his
Did you think he was going to forget you
His father who created him
Is that why you disappeared forever
Never to come home again
