Good Girl Poem by Cindy Rheeder

Good Girl

I’m not allowed to make mistakes,
Be the good girl, who stays at home,
Don’t say nothing nasty or do no wrong,
Because you’re placed among the stars,
Knowing you don’t belong.
Don’t go drinking in any bars,
Keep an eye out for all the evil fellows,
All they want to do is hurt you.
I’m not allowed to make mistakes,
Be a good girl, be the nice girl,
Don’t look to good or do too badly,
All we want is the best for you,
Don’t think you’re pretty; don’t say you’re ugly,
Don’t cry too much or laugh too loud,
Be the good girl, be the save girl,
You aren’t allowed to make mistakes.
Be the example and not the letdown,
Never ask “What if” never look back,
Just smile and hide away your pretty face.
I’m not allowed to make mistakes,
Be the good girl who stays at home,
Don’t say nothing nasty or do no wrong,
Because you’re placed among the stars,
Knowing that you won’t ever belong.
