Life is good
When give meets receive,
Hand to hand,
Heart to heart.
Be good to the good,
Be fair to the fair,
Let kindness answer kindness,
Let love embrace love —
That is the law.
Elders spoke it by fire,
We know it in the blood —
No man thrives giving, loving alone,
With no return match.
That breaks the circle,
The living law of give and receive,
Live and let live,
Egbe bere, ugo bere.
Monopoly is not good,
One palm giving always,
One palm hoarding all,
The circle breaks,
The well runs dry.
But give, and it returns,
Share, and it grows —
Good to good,
And life stays good.
