filial love
day and night by his father's side
tending, caring, loving
the teenage son
his young shoulder
stooped,
a son's grief,
to see his father, wasted
what anguish, unfathomable
let love ease all the pain,
comfort in knowing
he was there,
faithful to the source
of life and pain, happiness and woe
lift the sorrow in his young heart
stem the source
from whence the grief flows
his father's blessings be upon him
the teenage son- learned-
how to live and to die
what it takes to be faithful
by his father's death bed.
