As I stand there watching
while you lay asleep..
You look so peaceful
while my knees turn weak..
As that book closes,
I know the time has come..
I do my best to
put a brave front..
Fight the tears
though I know it's in vain..
But I'll pray to God
I'll see you someday..
As the fire grows thicker
I know you'll be gone..
As the smoke reach up higher
like a spirit heading for the sun..
Forever gone,
out of my life..
Out of your body
& into the light..
Everyday I'll ask God
though I know it's in vain..
One day I'll see you,
even it's for a day...
