Goodbye Malta Poem by Sylvia Chidi

Goodbye Malta

Goodbye, Malta
Goodbye, La Valette pleasures!
Goodbye, sun, sweat, and sirocco!
Goodbye, frequently Mdina entered palace!
Goodbye, mansions where I have walked!
Goodbye, you dreaded stairways!

Goodbye, fishmen who hardly fail!
Goodbye, ye raging rabble of eternity!
Goodbye, letterless packets!
Goodbye, you fools who mimic your superiors!
Goodbye, you damned covid quarantine.
That caused my spleen and fever!

Goodbye, Gozo stage that causes us to snore
To the brave Malta Knights, farewell!
Goodbye to Birkirkara, who is without fault.
Goodbye, you females brimming with grace!
Redder faces and redder coats, farewell!
Goodbye, supercilious air
