Grandma Poem by Brianna Mathis

Grandma

Something makes me
Sit here, Still, in the dark
And start to think about you
I can hear your laugh
On that one christmas morning
In '95
It makes me wish
That you were still here
This pain aches in my heart
Each and everyday
I'm forced to hide this pain
Behind this fake smile
Just to show that somehow
I may be strong
But no one can see
The truth beyond this image
They don't know the sleepless nights
Or the many different times
I have cried into this pillow
Hoping those many diffferent tears
Could soon bring you back
Or all these words i write
Hoping that maybe just
A few could somehow get to you
But now i have to learn
And face the truth
Nothing can ever bring you back to me
I'm just useless without you here
