Granted Poem by Blessing Kalamatila

Granted

Lets just say I fell Hard;
would you blame the clown in me
with fractured bones?
or say I mistook Her for a gem;
would you still throw at me your stones?
Lets just say I lost her;
would you blame my broken campass?
or say I wasn't man enough;
would you blame my fragile heart?

you See!
far too long,
she sat comfortably
at my Hearts pew,
I thought of Her as a fairytale;
she was too good to be true.
I was still one of the few
that didn't believe "beauty fades"
always thought of Love
as a strong foundation;
not until it came off her face.
but whose to blame?

for I accomodated Her every need
She lodged in my affection
simply because I was
her last resort.
Pardon these thoughts
but what happens when all your efforts
go unrewarded?

well!
since nobody really knows
what the future holds,
It only makes sense tightening
the grip on the pen to indite thoughts;
those only brave enough to escape
the prison of our memories
so yet again blame it on my frail heart,
for beating with a wrong conviction
cuz far too long
I confined myself to trying
to gratify you with nothing
but love.

I swear!
If I could,
I would curse the sky;
just to stop feeling blue
like a broken paintbrush;
watch me dye
cuz these feelings for you
were really true
Yes!
I know it makes no sense
to have so much anger
but then it doesn't really have to
because you cant fathom
the dissapointing Irony
of trying to erase someone completely
when in reality
You were their mistake.
