Great Cause Lost Poem by Midifo Yearns

Great Cause Lost

Left primitive; not able to comprehend
Intelligent, beautiful, trapped in anger
Bled from years of brutal pain
Twisted now, mercilessly twisted
In self indulgent pity and arrogant revenge

Great cause lost; noble dream smashed
Left lying on pot-holed road
Heart and mind, colonized still
– debris of un-freedom

Noble moment lost, as gaunt and savage
Dogs seem to smile, while fat cats,
Inappropriately adorned in gold,
Burp and role over.
