Greed Poem by Stephen Strassner

Greed

CEO’s pay increased by 50 percent
While the worker gets 50 cents
And works three jobs just to pay the rent
What have we done

Millions of dollars to play a game
Little children sleep in the rain
The athletes say they’re not to blame
But who is.

Movie Stars sure make a fuss
Making sure the homeless have a bus
Into their limos they must rush
For the next blockbuster

Politicians recognize the need
The need of millions we must feed
Their next campaign is financed with greed
Offer them a bribe.

CEO’s destroy with greed
Companies and make them bleed
Workers can no longer succeed
Send it to China

I smell the smoke of a time to come
When those greedy power mongers will have to run
Because the little guy will have won

But in the end we may all lose
