Greedy Horizon Poem by Sara Douglas

Greedy Horizon

Rating: 5.0

The Horizon soaks up the sky
Shadows wash your face
But I don’t need to see you
To feel your pure grace
Too bad I gave you everything
You greedy horizon, you drained me black
Too bad I thought you’d do the same
You never intended to give it back
I’m an empty sky
No color or stars, no nighttime charm
You’re a day thief, a night crawler
I’ve slipped down the vague throat of harm
It’s dark and cold just like me
All because you soaked up my heart
I should have known how did I not?
You knew it’d happen from the start
You greedy horizon
I hope you know what you have done
You drained my yellow sunlit sky
I hope you’re happy, now you’ve won.
I’m sure we both know; there’s no need to say goodbye.
