Gripped By Winter Poem by Marilyn Lott

Gripped By Winter

Rating: 4.5

Gripped in the force of winter
Clutched by Mother Nature’s hand
Lost in suspension of doubt now
For ice has captured the land

Bright is the sunrise and sunset
Gleaming wildly upon frozen trees
Shining brilliant across the water
Bringing everything to its knees

Torturing all that it imprisons
Holding fast like a fly in a web
Not warming with brilliant sun
Choosing to freeze on sight instead

Life seems to come to a stand still
No sound like a bird’s fluttered whir
The world seems to hold its breath
Waiting for life soon to stir

But the beauty is so overwhelming
I think you will agree with me
And since nothing lasts forever
Soon spring will set it free!
