Growing Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Growing

Nestled in a mother’s arms
Loved and protected from harm
Nourished by the mother's milk
Ingesting nature’s liquid silk

Developing awareness and coordination
Noticing fingers and toes with admiration
Growing rapidly… sitting in a highchair
Creamy warm cereal is spooned with care

Birthdays are celebrated as the child grows
Independence flares as fluent words flow
Laugher accompanies interaction with friends
Sharing cake and ice cream with all who attend

Going off to school to become well educated
Gaining knowledge…learning how to relate
Preparing to go into the world of past generations
Ready to contribute to the celebration of nations
