Guess I Need To Make Coffee Poem by David Howerton

Guess I Need To Make Coffee

Couldn't find a place
so crawled outside
found an old lawn chair
that might hold my weight.

Took cup of coffee with me
watched a few small white clouds
heading east, shadows getting long.

The gray fall colors fill afternoon.

Take a drink cup empty
guess need to get some more.
Listen to those noises
that fill every afternoon;
along about three school out
it changes
becoming full
kids burning energy
before dinner.
