Had I Not - Poem by Alem Hailu Gabre Kristos

Had I not relished
What I had long cherished
Had I not tasted
And grew out of
What success has in store
Going past its door,
I would have
squandered my life
With a carcinogenic self pity
For failing to cross floor.

Topic(s) of this poem: failure, success

Poet's Notes about The Poem

It is when we miss something we feel it is great. If we get it soon we outlive it.
