Halving It All Poem by Barry Van Allen

Halving It All

Yes! ... is not the answer that you were looking for.

No! ... was what you wanted all along.

There is no fun for you in being right,
the argument is what you live for,
of course, it is my fault,
... that 'We' are not.

You wouldn't have it any other way,
and I'm not sure that if you could,
... you would.

A sweet and simple life,
would bore the hell right out of you,
again, I am the only one to blame.

Is there some reason for this basic contradiction?
Is that the only love that you have ever known?

Change against the grain,
... against the soul...
at times begets the fear of simply being whole.
