Happiness Poem by Richard Netherland Cook

Happiness

Happiness
You can't pursue happiness and catch it;
Happiness does not depend or start
With what happens outside of you,
But what happens inside your heart.

Happiness is measured by the spirit
In which life's problems are met.
A heart full of rich emotions,
And the thought of a full mind set.

Happiness is found in relationships
That are loving, considerate and kind,
Happy is as happy does,
True happiness is peace of mind.

Happiness comes with the satisfaction,
That you did your best and did not fail,
The knowing that you have helped someone,
And helped yourself as well.

Happiness is found in little things,
Like a newborn baby's smile.
A soldier safe and home from war,
Or a hug from your Grandchild.

All people want to be happy,
And it isn't far away, and yet,
Happiness doesn't find you,
You have to find it.
