Happiness Follows Poem by Jacquelyn Gagnon

Happiness Follows

Rating: 5.0

nothing. that's what i feel
nothing has happened, nothing seems real
i walk around aimlessly wondering what to do
how long have i been like this?
an hour? a day? no, a week maybe two
im hungry but wont eat
tired and cannot sleep
so bored yet nothing is fun
does this happen to everyone?
doing homework is just a thought nothing more
it doesnt matter if a get a low score
listening to the radio just starts a fight
dark vs light it's all inside
one side is angry cuz of how im acting
i should smile. wheres the happiness im lacking?
take a deep breath, rise to my feet,
i have places to go, people to meet
dont be like everyone else, with a knife and a plan
i have a future, understand?
the opposing force is far more stronger
each negative thought held in longer
what is my reason? why am i here?
ill die alone, ill die in fear
in the midst of this battle i start to wonder
why the darker the night, the louder the thunder
as each second passes im holding my breath
submerged in these feelings, waiting for death
