Happy Days, Hannibal Style Poem by Robert Winthrop

Happy Days, Hannibal Style

When old reruns of 'Happy Days' come on my TV set,
My thoughts go back so many years, and then my eyes grow wet.
For then in this old river town we had our happy days:
Our days of cruising Broadway, our jokes, our high-school plays.
Back then 'star times' meant 'awesome, ' and sweaters were the rage.
And many 'Pirates' fell in love to songs by Patti Page.
We had policemen 'villains, ' and certain teachers, too.
We'd drink a coke or milkshake, and sometimes sneak a brew.
We had a drive-in movie and the Goody-Goody sold
A burger that no Burger King could ever hope to hold.
So few of us had cars back then, we had to 'leech' a ride.
Oh! happy days and memories, no wonder that I cried.
