Happy Ending Poem by Emillie DeVere

Happy Ending

How many hours have I spent,
Longing for life to make sense
How many times have I prayed,
For a miracle to prove that a God does exist
How many days in a year have I listened
For a call, a sign
How many miles have I walked,
Searching for the gates to freedom
How many times have I spoken
The words, rolling off my tongue
Over how many rocks have I stumbled
On my way to the top
How many times have I hoped
For dreams to come true
How many times have I sought
The answers
Only to be met with disappointment,
Again and again
And yet I still believe,
That life is the most wonderful fairytale
And no matter what happens in the middle,
There is always happiness awaiting at the end
