My heart goes out to single mothers
moreso that to the others
because their days are so long
Their daily lives so thankless
Their perseverance so strong
Living with the lover, lost
Knowing full well love's true cost
Motherhood is sometimes so hard
Children dictate mothers very lives
For them they sacrifice a lot
And have nobody else to share with
the little that they've got
Sometimes without a helper or a friend
The weight of motherhood has no end
And eventually children grow
and are bound to go away
You only hope that they don't stray
While your own heart is slow to mend
And maybe on Mothers day one year
Some thanks or greeting they will send
Most married women think they have it hard
But single mothers know the score
That single mothers have a harder chore
And so to you I wish you all
Rest before tomorrow's endless call
A Happy Mother's Day all the more
