Happy On The Outside Poem by Amanda May Moore

Happy On The Outside

a smile will only last awhile.
it is only so versatile.
you must not say
your twinkle is a true display
when inside you are gray.
if that is so-a lie, an excuse-
what is the use?
why are you lying to the world,
beguiling them with a false smile?
you eke your spirit with a laughter.
if this is your act
and this is your show...
hun, everyone will know
what you are after. what you do.
and what is true.
so then, have your debut
try to fool us all, but the only
fool you will cheat is yourself.
stops this act and choose
to just lose.
lose this smile and look for
something more worthwhile,
and then you will attain
an actual
factual
smile.
