Hard Times Poem by Jennifer Colyne Hall

Hard Times

You do not know hard times
Until hard times knocks upon your door -
Whether you choose to
Let him in or not
He will come in

Until you have slept in the floor -
With no bed
Without even a covering
You do not know hard times

Until you have spent holidays completely alone -
With no family
Without even a present to give
You do not know hard times

Until you have your last dollar taken from you -
With no savings
Without even a penny in a jar
You do not know hard times

Until you have to give up your only meal in days -
With no regrets
Without even a frown on your face
You do not know hard times

Until you have lived almost a year -
With no water
Without even internet or electricity
You do not know hard times

Hard times they come -
Hard times they go
I made hard times my friend
And hard times taught me to survive.....
