Hard To Understand Poem by Tor Magnor Solvang

Hard To Understand

From fifteen years, a busy hand,
Through jobs and tasks across the land.
Machines and tools, a learned grace,
To get the work done, find my place.

A ladder climbed, a skill acquired,
By knowledge keen, my spirit fired.
The years rolled on, my strength did fade,
And health's dark clouds, my progress stayed.

Then odd jobs came, and parts of days,
Through life's more quiet, winding ways.
Still tools and knowing, what to do,
To build and mend, and see things through.

But one bright tool, I can't command,
A woman's heart, a helping hand.
Though my own body, strong and sound,
My inner workings, can't be found.

This mental fix, this inner repair,
Eludes my grasp, beyond compare.
A mystery deep, a puzzling art,
The way to mend a broken part.
