Harley's Dragon Wagon Poem by Nancy Crossman

Harley's Dragon Wagon

The most unusual thing you'll ever see
On the road in the land of dragons
Is a little black kitten riding along
In Harley the dragon’s wagon.
The little black kitty is special you see
For he’s missing his two back feet.
Harley the dragon found him that way
All by himself in a heap.
Harley felt sorry for the poor little kitty
So he brought him home to his lair
Knowing his little furry friend
Needed a friend who cared.
The kitty grew stronger every day
Much to Harley’s delight
But the little black cat was unable to walk
And Harley felt that wasn't right.
One day Harley saw the pie man in town
With a load of pies on his wagon
He asked the man if he knew how
To build a wagon for a dragon.
They worked together day after day
And when the wagon was done
Harley had learned good things can happen
When friends pull together as one.
He brought the wagon to his den
And placed the black kitty inside
The kitty smiled from ear to ear
As he went for his very first ride.
Now Harley takes kitty wherever he goes
Round every curve and bend
And the dragon, and the little black cat
Are the very best of friends.
