Harvest Moon Poem by Edith Niemeyer

Harvest Moon

When Harvest Moon climbs silent skies,
And silver crowns the restless tide,
I hear Pier Marquette call once more,
From years that wait on memory's shore.
The lighthouse lifts its faithful flame,
As if it softly knows my name;
Each lantern lights another mile,
Along the path I've walked awhile.
Pre-Chorus
Black pearls, white pearls intertwined,
Yesterday and tomorrow aligned.
Leather worn by storms and years,
Lace embroidered out of tears.
Chorus
So let the lighthouse lead me home,
Where moonlit waters gently roam.
My cockatiel upon my shoulder sings,
Of little joys and simple things.
Every stone beneath my feet,
Turns old heartbeats into peace.
Though seasons fade and tides depart,
Pier Marquette still holds my heart.
Verse 2
A winding path through moonlit bloom,
Carries hope beyond the gloom.
Every flower knows my name,
Every breeze remains the same.
Old photographs and whispered light,
Gather softly through the night.
Nothing precious disappears,
Love outlives the passing years.
Bridge
If tomorrow calls me onward,
I will never walk alone.
The moon remembers every footprint,
Every place I've ever known.
Where lighthouse beams and heaven meet,
Memory and mercy greet.
Time may bend, yet love remains,
Flowing through these timeless lanes.
Final Chorus
Let the lighthouse lead me home,
Past every place my heart has known.
With my faithful cockatiel near,
Turning silence into cheer.
Harvest Moon, keep shining bright,
Guide my soul throughout the night.
Along this pathway, calm and true,
Love is always leading through.
Outro
When the sea grows still at last,
And every sorrow becomes the past,
The lighthouse waits... the moon still gleams...
Pier Marquette lives within my dreams.
And on my shoulder, gentle and free,
A faithful friend still walks with me.
The pathway never truly ends—
It only leads us home again.
