Hatred Poem by Ojeikpo Elijah

Hatred

Hatred, fierce and dark,
A burning flame
That scorches hearts with its consuming wrath
A venomous poison, without a name
That leaves a trail of destruction in its path

It spreads like wildfire, consuming all
In its wake, love and compassion dies
Leaving behind a bitter, twisted pall
As it feeds on, the innocent cries.

It blinds our eyes and clouds our judgement clear
Turning brothers against each other's hold
A force so strong, no mercy does it bear
As it tears apart the fabric of the soul.

But in the midst of hate, there lies a seed
Of love, waiting to bloom and set us free
For in this world, where darkness reigns supreme
It's love that can conquer and make us whole.

It shines a light, that can make us dream
And heal the wounds that hatred left to stroll
So let us rise above this vicious foe
And spread the message of love, far and wide.

For in the end, it's all that we can know
To overcome and let our hearts abide
Though hatred may still linger in our midst
With love, we can resist and coexist.
